Shift Openings:

3-11 and 11-7 (guaranteed 40 hours per week)  Earn up to $20.00 per hour

We offer a competitive pay rate and benefits which include medical/dental insurance, paid vacation and holidays.    This position provides guaranteed 40 hours per week and offers two types of Staff Aide positions, one at $18.00 per hour for working a straight 3 to 11 or 11p - 7am shift or a second staff aide at $20.00 per hour for working 3p - 11p / 11p - 7am shifts with 12 hour shifts and some "on-call" responsibilities.

Position Summary:
The Staff Aide will primarily provide assistance in our clients homes throughout Erie and Niagara Counties.  The position will also work in conjunction with Nursing Staff when opening new clients.   


Education & Experience

  • Must possess a Home Health Aide or a Personal Care Aide certificate and be current and in good standing in New York State and at least one year of Home Health Care experience required.
  • Must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, telephone, documentation and communication skills.
  • Must possess the disposition and personality to work harmoniously with a wide variety of people and all levels of staff, and interact with other members of the team.
  • Maintain compliance with in-service, continuing education and medical requirements as set by NY State Regulations, Agency policy and accreditation organization(s).

Requirements
Must have own transportation and able to travel in Erie and Niagara Counties

• Must have a strong work ethic and possess flexibility in commuting to different locations daily.

• Must be able to work 2 designated weekends of Saturday and Sunday per month.

• Must be able to use hoyer lifts as well as be able to lift up to 50 lbs. 

• Must be able to be mandated.    

Must possess excellent attendance

Working Environment / Physical and Personal Requirements:

  • Able to read, write and communicate in English and carryout directions or instructions, record messages and to keep records.
  • Is able to accurately take and record blood pressure, temperature, pulse and respiration.
  • Ability to communicate information concerning a patient’s condition clearly.
  • Functions independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to move intermittently throughout the work day, inclusive of sitting, standing and bending, pushing, pulling or moving objects and patients in a stand/pivot method.  With usage of various hoyer lifts, including but not limited to sit to stand.   
  • Ability to relate to and work with various personality styles, ill, disabled and elderly.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides personal care, rehabilitative, comfort and supportive services essential to the patient’s health as ordered and directed under the supervision of a nurse.
• Assists in activities of daily living (personal hygiene, oral hygiene, grooming, eating, dressing, elimination, exercise and ambulation).
• Maintains current and accurate clinical records and reports. Documents patient care activities on a daily basis and submits same weekly.
• Maintains a safe environment.
• Communicates to the Registered Nurse changes in the status, condition and needs of the patient and/or family.
• Provides household duties to facilitate the patient’s self-care at home and encourages the patient’s participation to their ability.
• Plan – purchase, prepare some meals.
• Supports teachings of all Agency personnel and carries out simple procedures as an extension of physical, occupational, or speech therapy.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy and treats all patients with dignity and respect.
• Assists with medications that are ordinarily self-administered as permitted by state law.
• Supports the patient and provides the appropriate setting to encourage independence.
• Participates in patient case conferences, in-service programs and orientation.
• Observes appearance and gross behavioral changes in the patient and reports to the Registered Nurse.
• Assists with range of motion, activities of daily living, mobility, transfers, toileting, specimen collection.
• Prioritizes and schedules duties to ensure all patient care tasks and visits are completed as assigned.
• Communicates with the office coordinator weekly regarding scheduling, availability, attendance and assignment.
• Utilizes universal precautions and infection control techniques as necessary.
